Ready for a New School Year

Welcome back, everyone!

If you've read my last few posts, you may be wondering (legitimately!) if I will ever tire of using  "Ready Math" puns in my post titles. Although I can't promise this will be that last time, at least you know I'm aware of the problem... Hopefully, that's a good first step.😉

To start you all off this year, in this post I will attempt to answer these questions:
  • How can I access Ready right now?
  • How are teachers in Washington Central expected to use the Ready program?
See the headers below the break. If you have a question that I'm not addressing, please email me (edorsey@u32.org).

Changes to Ready Already

Happy Spring, everyone!

I suspect that some of you out there noticed that our old Teacher Toolbox code expired today and are waiting for a little free time to send out an email asking for the new code. In this blog post, I will address these questions:

  • Ack! What is the new code to access Ready Math right now?!?
  • Why are there changes to Ready already?
  • How can I check out the new version of Ready Classroom Mathematics?
Yes, that’s right. Ready Math is changing in ways that are pretty exciting (to me, at least). We'll get to that later, but first things first...

Checking out Ready

Readers of my most recent blog post (linked here) announcing the recommendations of the WCSU math pilot team have expressed interest in getting a first glimpse of Ready Mathematics. Thankfully, our buddy Brad at Curriculum Associates has provided us with a code that we can use to access the Teacher Toolbox on a trial basis.

So in this blog post, I will show you how to access Ready Mathematics through the Teacher Toolbox. In the interest of providing options for learning, you may choose to watch this video:
Or  you may choose to click right here and read the instructions on a pamphlet provided by Curriculum Associates.

Or maybe you want want to mix it up and do both because you're just crazy cool like that.

Whatever your mode of preference, enjoy and let me know if you have any questions or thoughts (edorsey@u32.org).

Ready for a Math Program in WCSU?

In case you haven't already heard, the Elementary Math Pilot Group has recommended Ready Mathematics as a common program that we will begin using to support math instruction in grades k-6 next school year (2019-2020). In this blog post (co-written by Anne and Ellen), we address these questions:

  • What was the process we used to pilot and decide on a program for adoption in WCSU?
  • What is Ready Mathematics and what did teachers like about it?
  • What are next steps in the process?

STAR 360 - Fall 2018 Update

I hope everyone is off to a good start this year.  This hot, dry weather (and the dwindling water supply in the shallow well at my house) has me excitedly anticipating some fall-like weather...

Speaking of fall... our fall math and reading screening window is open from September 1 - 14.  If this window is catching you off guard, please check out the Local Comprehensive Assessment Plan for the 2018-2019 school year by clicking on the link on the wcsu32.org website.

In this post, I address these topics:

  • What is the purpose of this assessment and how does it relate to RtI (MTSS)?
  • What's new this year?
  • How do I begin looking at the data?
If you're looking for information about how to log in and/or administer check out the blog post linked here.

Do you have other questions?  Please email to me (Ellen Dorsey) at edorsey@u32.org.
